Anointing Oils

Oil was poured on sheep's heads by shepherds from Biblical times to protect them from insects in an act of caring and protection. Anointing with oil is the physical act of expressing the spiritual truth: we belong to God and we trust ourselves completely into His care and protection. It reminds us that Jesus is the Anointed one.
